"They" have lost touch with what it's like to be in the classroom
The automated sub contact service (We had AESOP/Frontline) was just a step above useless. We ended up procuring all of our subs ahead of time and manually inputting them into the system, even if we were on a death bed. It was just easier that way. My wife reminded me that when they can't find subs (almost daily), the principal at her old elementary school makes the encore teachers (PE,Music, etc) cover. This, of course, impacts every classroom teacher in the school and makes it damn hard to take a piss. If those teachers are used up, then the teachers have to divvy up the kids in the class and somehow find a way to socially distance them in a classroom that already doesn't have room to socially distance the kids.
