We have a permanent sub at our schools too. However sometimes they are out
As well. And they always have someone to fill in for, so there's an expectation (actually we have literally been told) that they can't be used or counted on to be a sub in our classroom. Don't get me started on the micromanaging about our absences. We have a system where we can put in for an absence and it calls subs to fill the job, but now we've been told, and I was told this personally by our assistant principal, that we have to personally secure a substitute for personal days off BEFORE we put it in the system. Meaning I have to literally call people to find a sub instead of letting the system find someone. And they won't approve an absence if we haven secured a sub. How does that make sense.
Oh, and get this.... I was told this: "personal days are considered a luxury so we can't guarantee you can take a personal day off"
I'm up to 120 sick days banked. I we get 3 personal days each year. I didn't use any last year so I got a bonus "wellness day" that I have to use I the first semester or lose it. I'm taking it in November.
