I assumed that a promoted/relegated team wouldn't really have


say on their schedule because they would be inheriting someone else's schedule (aka another team that was promoted/relegated). Also, I assumed that the first year of the promotion/relegation concept the schedules would be generated by a schedule generator like what the conferences and/or pro leagues currently use now. In theory, it could mean that the VT-UVA game would be played in Week 3 instead of the last week of the regular season.

Personally, I don't think there would be any issue with doing the promotion/relegation every 2 years. Particularly if teams only get to play each other 1 time per season. Then again, the schools may be willing to extend the season long enough to play everyone in the group home and away in the same season. Another potential byproduct is that it could kill rivalries because teams end up in different tiers. I am not sure how Hokie and Wahoo fans would feel if the VT-UVA game doesn't get played for 10+ years because VT and UVA end up in different tiers.
