ND football is not going to join the ACC

There is no valid business reason to do so. It would be a bad deal all around for ND.

ND's home games are not be governed by an ACC GOR, at all.

The GOR will apply to ND away football games against ACC opponents, plus basketball, baseball, soccer and lacrosse.

ND will owe damages for breaching the contract that says if it joins a football conference before 2036, it has to be the ACC, plus an exit fee for its other sports.

By 2031 or so, those damages numbers will be smaller than now and growing smaller every day until they equal zero in 2036.

If the ACC is offering $40 million a year to ND and the Big Ten super conference is offering ND $80 million a year, those exit fee and GOR numbers can be managed and negotiated.

If not, ND will just stay independent, renew its TV deal in 2025, and ride things out until 2036.
