Not at all, play whoever. I just don't think the leverage/energy is there
to support/drive massive organizational upheaval...the SEC breaking away...two super conferences...giant mergers...whatever.
The PAC is surely not the Lone Ranger in noticing the link between the playoffs and reorganization. They aren't going to say, "sure, screw us over, take ALL of the money, no problema!"
I think in the end, a 12 team playoff will make good economic sense, the Big 12 (already down to 10 and soon to be 8) will Darwin its way into the archives, and
the remaining power conferences will adjust members here and there and continue on.
If power conferences can each count on 2 playoff spots, they'll have a product to market. And 4 wild cards will accommodate the NDs, exceptional G level teams, and/or conferences with more quality depth.
