My wife works in rehab and I've had a few knew operations though not a

total knee - yet. Patients have a better experience -- and I think outcomes -- if they rehab their knee prior to surgery. Your ortho might write you a script for PT to get you in shape prior to the surgery.

Your general practitioner may also write you that script. You can often just call them and ask for the script, which they might write even without seeing you. I did that yesterday (but they have my issue in their medical records and they saw me for something else a few months ago).

Total knees aren't that bad anymore. My wife used to say grown men will cry during their rehab, but that's not quite the case anymore. Then again, she said men are typically much bigger babies than women during rehab.

Good luck!
