I understand how financial aid works but .


it is an advantage for those that can do it and afford it. Just think about it, 3 top 100 wrestlers are from low income families who were going to get scholarships to Stanford (or any other other school for that matter) but instead they get needs-based financial aid; therefore, having no impact on the 9.9 scholarship limit so Stanford gets to allow their scholarship money to more recruits.
Therefore, additional scholarship-quality wrestlers are brought into the program which greatly enhances the quality of their wrestling team. Maybe it doesn't happen for the high-end athlete so maybe it's less of an impact on sports programs than I was suggesting. Having said that, as mentioned in earlier posts, we don't want to impact the aid needed for student-athletes.
