Correct. with a caveat.


The issue is that VT has less financial aid endowments. There is not some inherent disadvantage against VT. VT could raise enough to fully fund financial aid just like any other school, but because we don't have the bank account we are at a disadvantage with how much financial aid we can provide to low-income families. However, the Ivies and I believe Duke does not give out ANY athletic scholarships.so we actually have a 9.9 schollie head start...it is just not enough. We do have an advantage for the student athletes from moderately wealthy families whose EFC is over ~75k because we can offer athletic schollies where a Ivy and Duke do not have the ability offer.

But someone in this thread suggested counting aid scholarships against the 9.9 athletic schollie..this would actually put us at MORE of a disadvantage.
