Had a similar situation years ago. My grandparents had a house at the beach

that sat empty much of the year. When I arrived on a Friday night I found much of the house electricity wasn’t working. A few lamps worked but no hot water, no heat (it was late fall), stove didn’t work, etc. it was late so I figured I’d deal with it in the morning. My wife and I woke up in the middle of the night to lights and noises outside. There was a fire truck outside the house and a small gathering of people. Firemen knocked on the door. Turns out, at the beach and salty environment, it’s not uncommon for corrosion to build up on the wires from the transformer where the house line connects if little to no juice is flowing. One of the two lines had corroded over and we only had one electrical line with juice to the house. In the night, with us leaving on a bunch of light switches while trying to find out what was working, Eventually the electricity arced over the corrosion and started flowing again and the corrosion burst into flames at the pole. It probably only lasted a few seconds but someone saw it and called the fire department. Our problem was solved, but we didn’t get a lot of sleep after all the excitement.
