There are 2 or 3 main wires coming

to the house. I guess they are underground? Anyway, sometimes a root or rock will cut a wire and while part of house elec is on, other part is not. I had the same problem a few yrs ago when we had gone to Italy for 2 weeks and came back to the same situation you're in. Need to contact power company and they will get it straightened out for you
