B. And do what you can to drag your feet throughout the process
Without cutting your own throat, of course. If they say they need references within three days, wait til the third day. Tell your references to wait a day or two before calling them back -- if it gets to that point, the job is likely yours and they'll just be delaying a job offer.
Did the conversation in either set of interviews go to when they'd want you to start? You can always make up a preplanned vacation or family wedding that you have to go to.
The biggest question to ask re: B is if this might come back to bite you in the butt in the future. From what I recall from an earlier post, neither of these jobs are really in the area of what you truly want to do, correct? Just kind of placeholders until schools are back to normal and you can get back to teaching? Especially if that's the case, don't worry a bit about telling B yes but then backing out and going with A should they offer a few days or a week later.
