Yes, but the Big XII only has 10 teams and plays a round robin conference
schedule so it can hold a conference championship game in football. If you look at the current NCAA bylaws, then conferences have only 2 options.
Option 1 (conferences with 12 or more members) - divide up into 2 divisions and play a round robin division schedule.
Option 2 (conferences with less than 12 members) - play a round robin conference schedule.
The Big XII is currently using Option 2. If a conference with 12 or more members, which the ACC currently qualifies with 14 football members, doesn't want to go with Option 1, then Option 2 is the only option. Remember another NCAA bylaw states that teams can only play up to 12 regular season games or 13 regular season games if 1 game is played @Hawai'i. Given that the ACC would have to play 13 conference games under Option 2, then Option 2 is really not an option for the ACC because Hawai'i is not 1 of the 14 football members in the ACC and it would mean giving up the ACC-SEC OOC games and OOC games against Notre Dame.
