My house originally had poly when I bought it in 1994. Couple years ago it

burst in the garage at the water heater and caused damage to the adjourning room inside the house. Had a plumbing company replace all the pipes in the house with PEX. My only regret was that I originally had a manifold system that sent separate lines to all the water faucets and toilets. When they replaced the lines, they used one main hot and cold line and all the outputs were tapped off those lines. Now, showers are subject to hot and cold water use elsewhere in the house. Really sorry I missed that. They also replaced the line into the house from the street. All together about $10k.
