Wow - you got lucky IMO


I would be very mad at the former coworker who decided it was ok to betray your confidence and tell your manager that your are shopping around. That could have easily gone very badly for you. In the end you made a great decision to not work for that new company and if I were you I would sever any contact with that former coworker. with business ethics like that you are best to steer very clear of that.
