I don't remember the ACC ever calling the game that.


It wouldn't be accurate. NCState v Wake Forest has just as many conference games as does Clemson v NCState and UNC v Duke. Each of those has been played every year starting in 1953 just like UNC v UVA. And if Auburn-Georgia started in 1944, they started 9 years before there was an ACC. And every rivalry in the Big Ten is longer since that league started well before the ACC or SEC in 1895.

I just remember the ACC, at least Raycom, calling it the South's Oldest Rivalry because much of it existed in the Southern Conference before the ACC and even before that.
