So if for instance UVA and UNC were not in the same POD, we could schedule non-conference games with each other on years not scheduled as ACC games. Since we're only playing 8 conference games, there is room in the non-conference schedule to do this. It wouldn't be any different than what Clemson is doing with South Carolina.

The benefit of more frequent rotation throughout the entire conference is what the POD rotation would bring.

But for this to work new additions should have at least some familiarity with existing members to be able to generate at least some level of rivalry interest. That's why I think best to select #16 from within our current ACC geographic regions. The ideal of expanding into Texas is intriguing from a cable subscriber footprint idea, but ACC schools really have zero history with Texas schools to speak of. You can be too spread out as the WAC showed.
