Yep, in AOCS,if someone DOR’d, and we had plenty in my class(started with


over 75, graduated with 18, a few others graduated a week later), they were pretty much shuttled out quietly and you never heard from them or of them again. In many ways they try to get you to quit, and if you’re a quitter, you weren’t material anyway, they just sent you to what we called X Company, and a week or so later your we’re on your to being floor manager at JC Penny in a couple yrs? 😉 So yes, if that kid DOR’d, kinda makes the case against the instructors. Of the original 75 in my class, some were what we called NAMI whammied. NAMI (Naval Aerospace Medical Institute) is where we got our physicals. Most “whammies” we for vision, and some stayed to Naval Flight Officers, instead of pilots. Some DOR’d after the initial swim evaluation (I barely go thru that one), some after a few weeks, etc. I remember one guy, showed up with long blond hair, a surfer boy from SoCal. Got his haircut, swim was no issue, made it thru the first RLP (Room, Locker, Personnel Inspection) at week 4. They was a brutal inspection, our class failed as a whole (I was the only individual to pass), but our Drill Inspector was not pleased and we paid dearly over the next few days. The next week had some boxing competition within our class. We had been trying for a month. Two 1 min rounds. I was paired with Surfer Boy. Surprisingly, I TKO’d him in the first round, and I wasn’t a big guy, the smaller of the 2 of us. He DOR’d. It long afterwards, approaching the 6 wk RLP. Never understood that, only 8more weeks to go. I think he was our last DOR. He was just gone one day. We lost a few more to academics after that. It was
