Would be the equivalent of me completing Aviation Officer Candidate School

and getting my commission, then washing out of Flight School before getting my Wings. They used to do AST (Advanced Seal Training) after BUDS to complete SEAL training. Now I think they do SQT (SEAL Qualification Training). I believe Shipley said they shipped some guys to him without AST, so, I would think he would not be a fully trained SEAL and not get his Trident until after completing the quals, if that was the case. In any case, if one is booted from the SEALS, they are basically taking his Trident. Those guys take that very seriously.
