When I went through water survival there, while in AOCS 10/85-01/86, there

was this little wirey guy, an E-5, working over at the pool deck that was waiting to hear about a BUDS class date. He also worked with us on the obstacle course and cross-country course (I was fastest at both in my class 😎👍🏻). I never heard if he made it, but I was always grateful to him for working with me because I was weak in the water, and I wouldn’t haven’t gotten through the drown proofing without his help and encouragement. Most of the guys that worked with the AOCS classes were great, but I wasn’t surprised where guys working the Aircrew classes could get power crazy leading to hazing and bullying. I’ve seen similar in flight instructors and also some of weakest Capts I’ve flown with have demonstrated similar character flaws.

BTW - listening to Shipley talk is awesome. I love guys like him.

My friend and favorite Navy SEAL served as an officer in the 70s to early 80s. Here we are at a Giants game last yr. 😎👍🏻 (I’m the guy on the left 😉)
