The Baltimore Sun recently ran an editorial that in essence supported Loh (not Lau). To his credit, he's raised $1.4b. That is one thing he has in his favor (see large donations from Clark Foundation and B. Iribe) although there is plenty of controversy.

UMD has not been a commuter school since the early 90s (most student live on campus or nearby in off-campus housing).

Finances have been an issue in the AD because of the governance structure more than anything (UMD part of USM system; should be separate and distinct from USM).

Loh came from U. of Iowa not Illinois.
