You do realize the Big Ten would be throwing the party because

it clears an easier path for the Big Ten to add OU and Texas? The ACC throwing a party because the Big Ten added Rutgers and made it easier for the conference to add UConn doesn't seem to be a good reason to throw a party. UConn athletics is probably not on par with OU or Texas by themselves and most definitely not on par with the 2 schools combined.

If the conferences are going to expand beyond 16 members, then they will probably do it in baby steps because of the impact it will have on football. Depending on whether they decide to stick with 2 divisions in football or are allowed to have more than 2 divisions will influence whether they expand to 18 or 20 members next.

For a conference to expand from 14/15 members to 18 or 20 members at one time might be too much of change within a short period of time. If there is too much change at one time within a conference, then it could lead to increased instability and potentially causing the conference to break up.
