It is, but UT also has pretty generous guaranteed scholarships


for good, but doesn't have to be great, SAT or ACT numbers - you make the score - you get the scholarship. In the 10k-15k/year range. Makes their OOS cost similar to a lot of other school's OOS costs, but not close to instate.

The scholarships are renewable yearly based on maintaining a certain grade. They essentially weed out average OOS kids, unless you are willing to pay.

Fortunately my child chose VT over UT, GT and NCST - even though all were out of state.
