The fact BC and FSU are in the same division should tell you

that the alignment is stupid to begin with. Or Miami & FSU are in different divisions. It would have been different to have done that to fit into existing divisions, but that's not the reason it was done.

The only alignments that make sense are geographical. Whether it be N-S or E-W.
