The Big Ten would hinder ND's national schedule need for football.
ND wouldn't want 8 games tied up in the midwest with an occasional visit to Maryland or Rutgers. The ND home games give ND midwest visibility. ND Hockey wants to play its games in the midwest. Their needs are different than football.
At least the ACC, if Navy is part of the package, would enable Notre Dame to continue with the national schedule. After 8 ACC games, Stanford and USC, there would remain 2 games each to rotate between SEC, Big XII, and Big Ten and G5 teams. The ACC games cover the entire eastern seaboard markets from Boston to Miami with Navy included.
Big Ten schools have always made more money than ACC on average. They have very large stadiums and charge a lot for tickets. It hasn't produced championships for them though. [Post edited by HOO86 at 05/16/2016 4:23PM]
