The latest books suffer from a similar disjointedness


It's been a while since I've read any of them, but the last book or two has introduced so many characters (especially minor characters related to more important ones) that I got to the point of skipping whole paragraphs. I know that I'm likely missing things that Martin is hinting at, but it's just boring reading.

It's actually the only way I can see HBO even considering extending beyond a 7th season: to give them more room within a given episode to bring depth to the main story/characters.
