Very interesting question. I didn't notice that when I watched the show.


But you're right, he's definitely walking into the tunnel and away from the south gate. Why would Jon go north? To fight the White Walkers? He's hardly capable of doing that alone. The wildling army is to the south (those that aren't already at Castle Black). Is there a chance he's aware of Bran being north of the wall? And when Ramsay sends his raven threatening the lives of Sansa and RIckon (sure, he doesn't have Sansa but Jon doesn't know that), Jon will want to be south of the wall.

Very curious ending.
