It was steady. Pretty solid. A plot mover.
And Snow being back alive could make for a 3-way-final-dance.
(Ice zombies vs. dragons vs. Jon Snow's peeps)

I'm going to bet that the final dance is Ice Zombies vs. Humans + Dragons. No three ways, per se, though there may very well be some politicking on the human side of things.

does season VI seem, thinner, to anyone else?
Like the snappiness and the witticisms are waning a bit.
They've gone to several of these wells too often.

Well we're largely in books-unwritten territory now. The show writers have a basic outline of what happens, but they don't have the crutch of GRRM's dialogue to lean on.
