Thanks for sharing, this does not bode well for the ACC.
3 million per school is not competitive with what other leagues will be earning. The Pac12 has their own real network and it's already bringing in close to that. And they have been producing nearly twice the number of games the SEC or B1G networks have. That network has been eating up revenue with start up and production costs. That is changing and the network is becoming much more lucrative. Anyhow, the Pac12 network will be bringing in 5 million per school per year in the very near future. From this point on, every new distribution dollar goes directly into their schools' pockets.
I was fearing this. ESPN already owns the content, at least the content they haven't dished off to Raycom and others. ESPN will just start filling late night U and Classics slots w/ replays of ACC games. And we can maybe watch VT Wrestling on our cell phones if we're willing to use up a month's worth of data. This is no ACC Network at all. I want to be able to watch VT sporting events. And I also want my school to be bringing in as many TV dollars as Vandy or Washington State.
