I've been streaming for about two years now. I did increase my internet speed to about 10mbps, but we are also empty nesters with no additional smart phones or tablets running through my router. I've watched VT all year on either ESPN3 or streamed it through SlingTV on the ESPN feed with good results.

I was paying for the internet connection anyway. My picture quality has been really good for the most part, and I actually have a Roku player hooked up to two different TV's and am streaming different programming to both at times.

If you don't have anything but 2.4Ghz ports on your router, upgrade to one with a couple of 5Ghz ports and zero the TV's in on those. It really helped my picture quality when I spent $70 on a new router.
