Having large State Universities is huge in getting eyeballs for football.

I will just add that having compelling matchups is a big factor too. Miami, USC-w and Notre Dame are private schools that get lots of eyeballs when they are in compelling matchups and they are winning. There are private schools like Duke and Villanova that get them for basketball, so it can happen with private schools that win.

That said, since the ACC can't really change it members much if any, the question is how do you get more out of the members you have? The biggest opportunity is better scheduling. Good grief does anyone think that Virginia Tech playing Clemson and Florida State every 7 years is good for getting eyeballs and recruiting kids? If so, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you.

As I posted to TerryD below, Phillips has an opportunity to change the ACC scheduling, especially if the no divisions is passed like apparently it will be. Please matchup football schools more regularly and stop with the treating everyone the same. The Conference needs eyeballs on the games to make more money. You know it, I know it and we have to find a way to do more with what we have.
