2020 did backfire


Some of it was the lack of passion, but mostly it felt a bit "stifling" to play a nine game schedule against schools in a single conference.

It seemed too limiting and too much the same to ND fans accustomed to an independent schedule.

That sent ND fans further into the football independence camp and turned them off to playing in a football conference.

It certainly wasn't the ACC's fault that Covid wiped out games against Navy in Dublin, Ireland, Wisconsin in Lambeau Field and USC in the L.A. Coliseum, among others, but that added to the "claustrophobic" nature of a conference schedule for ND football fans.
