A lot of cash for an overrated football conference

Only the O$U has won national football championships (2002 and 2014) this century. The Big Ten has only won 4 (maybe 5) undisputed national football championships in the past 60 years.

Let's take a look at the B1G football product:
Rutgers - Enough said.
Maryland - Football program peaked in 1953.
Penn State - They haven't done anything relevant in 20 years.
Ohio State - They're a Top 5 national program. Their last football title was in 2014, the season a 6-6 Virginia Tech team went to Columbus and beat them 35-21.
Michigan - FULL OF THEMSELVES!
Michigan State - Okay program but finds a way to blow it.
Indiana - A basketball school
Purdue - Used to be good in football but has become a basketball school
Ilinois - The most underachieving large state university in athletics.
Northwestern - Blah!
Wisconsin - They have good fans and a decent program but haven't challenged since 1942.
Minnesota - Football program peaked in 1960.
Iowa - Like Wisconsin. They always find a way to choke during promising years.
Nebraska - They haven't been the same since Tom Osborne retired in 1997.

There you have the 2nd best football conference in D-1. Worth a billion dollars a year to watch "okay" football? Not really. IMHO, I find the B1G to be boring. Ohio State pretty much rules the 14-team league. The article mentions the population within their geographic footprint but those in Chicago, New York-New Jersey, Baltimore and DC aren't big college football fans. The B1G is using their past history to cover up their present shortcomings. If it weren't for players from the South, Texas and California, the big would be screwed in football. That's why they'll never overtake the SEC. To me, the Big Ten is full of themselves, but I give them credit for fooling all the sports networks over the past few decades. Selling the B1G is like selling a 1980 Plymouth Horizon with 300,000 miles for $25,000. Well done Big Ten.
