I think the focus on early games and Net tiers make for more bad picks

In this day and age of transfers, giving early games the exact same weight - or more apparently - is bound to create unworthy teams by season’s end getting at large bids.

I get it that those games should matter, but they’re completely ignoring that the law of transitive properties doesn’t really apply to sports - particularly college basketball. They put way too much weight on how teams play early and apparently completely ignored how teams were playing down the stretch.

The ACC-B1G challenge was 8-6, not 10-4. And, like many college basketball games, a bounce or two and it could have been 8-6 ACC. It was clearly obvious to anyone watching games that the B1G wasn’t that much better or deeper than other conferences yet they got 9 teams in. 6? OK. 7? Maybe. But 9? C’mon.

Finally, how goofy is it that a team’s net ranking doesn’t really matter, but your Tier 1 record - which is based on the Net - weighs heavily?
