I think the focus on ACC's early out of conference losses was justified.


The conference was bad compared to other top conferences in OOC play. 21-33 vs the other power 7 conferences (before the ncaa tournament) is just not a good look. Plus only 3-8 vs the A-10.
Not everything sucked (for example, the acc vs b10 wasn't as lopsided as we were led to believe). As the season went on, teams in the acc certainly got better, but by that point it was just acc vs acc. What else should the conference be judged on other that Win and Losses vs other conferences?

I guess if a conference wants to avoid this to show that their teams got better as the season goes on, then more out of conference games would need to be scheduled for Jan/Feb. I wouldn't necessarily be a fan of that, but it would allow teams to better show that they made growth.
