This is to @airbornehokie96 in deference to his airfield seizure

expertise, but I’ve posted it here for anyone’s thoughts or other solutions. He also worked with Russian military, we worked against them.

Why couldn’t the US have just based IRF-1 at the Kyiv airport, with minimal cargo evac support, protected by a few 22s or 35s and an AWACS? Or if not IRF-1, then send an equivalent force for the purpose (stated or otherwise) of training and equipping the Ukr reserves? We literally created GTEP to train the Georgians in the same way.

There are so many other steps that should have been taken before this, but what do you think about the basic deployment for “training”? (Given that USSOF are already there covertly) There is no way that Putin would have invaded the Ukr had the US positioned any forces - like a BCT - near Kyiv. Hell, they could have actually landed at the Kyiv airport under the cover of the Olympics.

Biden repeatedly said that Russia was going to invade. Why did the Ukr have to be part of NATO for the US to do what it’s done everywhere else for the last 100 years? Why did the US build up forces and enter Iraq x2, AFG, Syria, Libya, Saudi, Beirut, etc. but not Ukraine? (not to mention WWII, SK, VN).

And then, even if Russia did start shelling or invading, Biden could have at worst case, just decided to pull out those forces, instead of faking like we actually give a shit about these people. As usual, the loudest congressional members are the ones faking it the most.

How was it not obvious to the US that 10K people would die if an invasion happened? We’re easily over likely 4-5K dead already, just on the friendlies’ side- in only a week. I guess I can’t say any more about what I think about this or who’s responsible. But for everyone to say they support the Ukr at this point, to me, that’s a horrible travesty.

Who is going to now pay for all of us to get to work as gas goes through the roof? OPEC is now going to pump more oil at drastically reduced prices? I have a family to take care of- I don’t have the time to take the metro. We shouldn’t have been having to buy gas from Russia in the first place.
