The alternative is what exactly? How was Bagram not going to fall when the government was gone within days? It's not like we decided overnight to leave, this was all obvious around 2012 but we stayed another decade anyway to fund, train and equip hoping it would be less messy. Turns out it wasn't. Not that we shouldn't have tried and yes, it is absolutely tragic, but my point isn't about that but rather any exit was going to end up as the same story, just perhaps different details. Whether now or in another decade.
What was a better alternative end game?
