Most don't disagree with the decision to leave ...
it was the horrible execution of the exit that has the rest of the world shaking their heads. We surrendered Bagram which immediately put lives at risk because we were now dependent upon an airport we did not control to get everyone out. The excuses given by the Pentagon and State Dept are laughable - they claim they couldn't secure both Bagram and the embassy. So if that was the case, add or shift resources so that you CAN secure both.
We abandoned thousands of US citizens, dual citizens, and people that had helped us there for decades - some of them are STILL stuck there 6 months later. We left $80 billion dollars worth of weapons and military equipment to a hostile regime.
And ALL of this was done to meet an artificial deadline. Like I said, it is covered here as 'not a great exit' by many media sources, but on the outside it was a complete and utter disaster and in my line of work I have the contacts to confirm it.
