Beth was only 65-50 in her 4 years at Western Carolina and I'm
pretty sure WCU made 0 trips to the NCAA Tournament during her tenure. So I find it a little odd that she done "enough" in those 4 years, which also happened to be her first head coaching gig, to "prove herself worthy" to get a head coaching job at a school with a quality basketball program in a higher mid-major conference compared to the Big South. At least I think VT was still a member of the Atlantic 10 at the time of the hire.
For me, her lack of experience and WCU being her first head coaching gig were the 2 main reasons and maybe even red flags when JW made the hire. It may have also been one of the indicators that JW may have already checked out on his responsibilities as AD. I get that an AD needs to watch the flow of money. However, JW took it to Scrooge-like level without have a clear plan or reasoning for operating that way.
