Miami Game - Beth Dunkenberger

Just my opinion and thoughts:

First, Miami is one of those teams that can beat anyone if they put the pieces together. We have to play a complete game to win. But I really hope we take care of Miami tomorrow. Losing to them with Beth Dunkenberger on staff will suck for all of those that have followed this program for a while. Some may not agree, but Weaver and Dunkenberger ruined what used to be a respected program. It took until maybe 2020 to start getting respect again and obviously we are still fighting for that. Look at the rankings and how long it took to get back in them. If we lose against Miami we will not be ranked again. Also this is a huge game to improve our overall seed in the NCAA Tournament and we do not want to give up one of the top 4 seeds in the ACC Tournament if possible, so we can keep the double bye. Especially with NC State coming up, this in my opinion is a must win. A lot is on the line. I hope we show Dunkenberger what a VT women's basketball program is supposed to look like. I think this will be the first time Dunkenberger has been back to VT since she left.

For those that have some inside info about Dunkenberger, I think we all want this game more. The team we have now is one united group that plays for each other. That is how it should be. The team was split when Dunkenberger was the coach. There were also some players that were allowed to get away with more things than others due to their position and importance to the team. She mentioned once in a newspaper article and multiple times outside of the article that April 16 traumatized her and that is why she struggled coaching. Now I don't doubt that is traumatized her as it did everyone, but please explain to me why she had the same exact problems before April 16 happened? I just saw that as an excuse and escape from responsibility and a really sad one at that.

Also I think this game might be personal for Coach Brooks as well, considering he wanted the job when Dunkenberger was hired and was passed over.

I hope there is a large crowd that shows up for this game and is loud! Go Hokies!
