More recently you have been saying all of that, and I understand why.

In June, I seemed to be one of only a couple of people that could see the 12 especially with 6 at large creating the super SEC. Then when Texas and OU said we are out, it was obvious that is exactly what they were trying to do. No matter what Sanky says to the public. Then a day or two after Finebaum has a show telling Virginia Tech to call the SEC. You can't get more blatant than that. I was really concerned the ACC football was not going to survive, just like Big East Football. Too many eggs in the basketball basket. Great Academic schools, but not great football schools with the fall off of Miami, FSU and Virginia Tech. Those 3 once roamed the top 5-10 for quite a while. Now, no where near it.

The thing I was under rating back then was Jim Phillips, not hard to do after giving my faith to Swofford or at least not blaming him for the fall off of the 3 football schools. I still don't think he had anything to do with the self inflicted wounds by those schools, except scheduling. The zipper model though, was Miami and Shallla insisting on it. Just like she signed that Dolphins Stadium 25 year contract.. Even she tried to get out of it later on, it was a disaster! Bottom line though is that Phillips has a chance right now. Some of it is luck (being on the restructuring committee) and some of it is he got on the phone with the B1G and the PAC. Now we could end up with two mega conferences with ESPN and Fox each taking one, but I am for the first time since June hopeful there is a P5/G5 breakoff. Where it goes after that is anybody's guess, but we know where 6 at large is going and I don't like it.
