Expansion will happen, sure, but where will the money and slots go?
The 12 team version should be rejected by the ACC, because it would be bad, long-term, for us, with everything going to the SEC/ND/Big 10. If we roll over now, we will have no chance. Why Bowlsby is for it, I don't understand. He has more to lose than we do, IMO. The Big 12 recovered well, but they are still basically a cross between the old American and the old Big 12. He should be leading this charge, not just the ACC.
Both the ACC and the Big 12 (and Pac 12 and G5) need something that spreads the wealth and the slots around. Hopefully, the Alliance is focused on that, and will soon pick up the Big 12 to help out.
Where I am really worried, though, is about the Big 10. They may cave in if they think they can partner with the SEC to divide the playoffs up. The 12 team playoff with one small change, might be very attractive to the Big 10. Just limit the number of at-large teams to two per conference, and the Big 10 might bet on getting three teams in the playoffs every year.
