Hijacking this tread with another question...

I lost my father last month and am going through probate in NC currently... The Clerk of Court for Rutherford County sent me a list of forms and deadlines for filing. Most should be pretty simple, but one line item on the list has me confused. It states:

Affidavit of Publication - A letter (AOC-E-403) will be issued to you and you will take this letter to the local newspaper. They will charge you $95. (The Daily Courier.)

The AOC-E-403 is my Letter of Testamentary, or Letter of Qualification... whatever you want to call it. I am guessing that this step means that I send the letter and $95 to the Daily Courier, and they provide an affidavit attesting to the fact that they published my father's obituary and Notice to Creditors. Does that sound right?

I appreciate any insights.
