What coach pry brings to Virginia tech in recruiting will be interesting

I expect he’ll want what penn state does, which is recruit hard in state, but also recruit nationally to fill talent gaps.

Recruiting in Virginia today would seem to be much more competitive then Pennsylvania is. My perception is that penn state gets the pick of kids it wants in-state. Top talent opting to go to pitt, or out of state is uncommon.

So Pry has to go toe to toe with UVa, UNC, Liberty, ODU, JMU, Penn State, Ohio State, Alabama, South Carolina etc in Virginia.

It’s addition by subtraction by not having Pry picking Virginia talent for the nittany lions. But does Pry flip the game by recruiting Pennsylvania as hard as he recruited Virginia?
