Will it have been worth it? It never was.

It wasn't worth it by June of last year. I knew then that our government "prevention" was worse than the virus itself, and the cost just keeps going up. Now it's time to tell the Government to get out of the virus protection / Gov shutdown business and get back into the taxpayer service business.
