I haven't seen anybody be out & out "critical" of either of our commitments


It's just that some were dreaming about a "Top 10 class!!!" if we got everybody we wanted, which almost never happens for anyone, not just VT.

The unfortunate fact is that we're never going to win a head-to-head battle with UNC forr a recruit if that recruit grew up a UNC fan. Maybe one day if/when we've won a couple of national championships, the playing field will be more level. But right now it isn't.

I'm sure that MY and his staff knew that a late UNC offer to Tyler Nickel was a possibility and made contingency plans. Just because we might not know about them doesn't mean that there aren't any.

Also, as has been said here before, Mike Young is very much a "system" coach. Finding guys who are the right fit for the role he wants them to play is a whole lot more important than star rankings.

Finally, I would remind you that VT's highest rated basketball recruiting class in history (Seth Greenberg's 11th-ranked 2011 class with Finney-Smith, Barksdale, Rankin and Brown) turned out to be a bust and probably played a part in getting him fired.
