^^^ this....I haven't paid that fee in ~6-8 years and still using the


same modem...no issues....might upgrade sometime to get faster but it works just fine (4k streaming, dozens of wifi devices).

I agree that comcast will probably tell you to go screw if you do have an issue but their service is actually pretty stable at my house so I haven't had any real issues other than the occasional outage on their end (which they cop to on their website).

On pain point I remember is that it didn't work when i first hooked it up because (little did I know), you have to 'register' the serial number with them for them to activate it. That was a long time ago so who knows if still the case.
