If it's "cool" outside, I prefer to add a fleece layer instead of going...


...to a heavier jacket. Living in the mid-Atlantic region, that's easy to do. I have a Columbia "soft shell" jacket that I can wear 90% of the time during the winter months...as long as it isn't raining too hard.

If it gets cold, I go to the heavy down jacket. I think I wear that 2-3 days a winter around here, but it's great if I head to the mountains.
