I have a shell with this, but...
I prefer the Gortex Pro 3L type of shell to it with large vents. What I've found is the material that these membranes are attached to matters just as much as the membrane's water/permeabilty ratios. For example, have top of the line shell from Helly Hansen...thicker fabric, so I only use it in the wintertime skiing. Have the Neoshell from EB/First Accent & it's great for high activity type of things like cross country skiing...but it breaths so much for regular downhill skiing to make it feel drafty. My go to of late for pretty much everything has been my Mammut Norwand Pro...does it all and is compatible with harnesses etc, so I use it for mountaineering, skiing, etc.... For real summertime rain jackets that tend to be put on for a short period of time, I like the Mountain Hardware jackets. Hell, I even put my VT orange colored one on for the Pitt game a couple years back when it rained the whole game. I put it over an insulated waterproof jacket to give it a double layer.
