What your using it for makes a difference here


Hiking, buy a hard shell that breathes okay and pack downs nicely. Start in any numerous low cost water wicking shirt and throw the jacket on for the heavy stuff. (Spend the money for packability and breathability if you can afford)

City: buy a good hard shell and umbrella.

Anymore lots of great jackets that will keep dry. Everyone has their version of Gortex. Application is what matters.

Standing in Lane for the BC game I’ve erased from memory.. a 2$ Plastic pancho would have been better than $300 ski jacket that didn’t cover my legs
