They have all of the info they need in the police report. The ONLY reason they want to talk with you is the hope that they can confuse the issue and make it seem that it is your fault.

Only speak to your insurance company and even then make certain that it is YOUR insurance company. My grandmother was in an accident and got multiple calls from people pretending to be either her agent or the police. She is not all there anymore and my mom had a hard time keeping her from talking to them. This is the "lawyers are slime" that you hear about. And yes it may only be a 1000 but they pay their lawyers regardless.
